What is the efficacy of
FIBA-ZORB PLUS after extreme drying?
Wetting agents are added to the growing media to ensure fast initial wetting and continuous fast rewetting to improve seed germination and crop production.
When crops are dried out accidently or during the cultivation phase, the growing media treated with
FIBA-ZORB PLUS will take up the water evenly again.
To compare the effect of different wetting agents, including FIBA-ZORB PLUS, the Fachhochschule Weihestephan establishment tested the water absorption after completely drying out.
There were three cycles in the test.
Cycle 1:
The peat was saturated and tested to see how much water was absorbed per pot. After this the peat was dried out.
Cycle 2:
The peat was saturated again and tested to see how much water was absorbed per pot. After this the peat was dried out once more.
Cycle 3:
The peat was saturated one more time and tested to see how much water was absorbed per pot..
As clearly shown in the above graph, the efficacy of the other 3 wetting agents was almost nil after drying out of the potting soil.
The ability of growing media to rewet after extreme drying is absolutely essential to both the professional grower and the plant retailer.
Growers using “stress” or minimum water production will find this feature more beneficial when they irrigate their plants for the final time before transportation to the retail market.
